ISO a gratitude buddy

I’m on the hunt for a buddy. A gratitude buddy. Or two.  Or many.

Characteristics of a good gratitude buddy

It doesn’t take much to be a good gratitude buddy. Just one email a day. Preferably at the same time every day.

You send me your gratitude list.  I read it. Then I send you my gratitude list. You read my gratitude list. Not necessarily in that order.

But it does take work. And commitment. And it takes sending an email, even if you don’t feel thankful.

Why gratitude buddies are essential

I’ve found that in recovery, my self-discipline comes and goes in waves. It’s difficult to accept myself in times when I”m not living up to my ideals.  To move forward, I see the act of gratitude as a PRACTICE.  Because while my mind does not naturally go to the sunny side of the street, I can re-wire the route.  And if there’s anything I’ve learned in recovery, it’s that when you take a step towards your Higher Power, The Universe responds by taking one hundred.

But I have a hard time doing this on my own. Thus, the once a day thing. Thus, the same time of the day thing. Thus, the accountability thing of having a buddy.

Why might you consider becoming my gratitude buddy?

Personally, I believe that life is about how you look at it. And I want to walk on the sunny side of the street. But I need a companion(s). Others with whom I can communicate about things I’m grateful for…people who can help blessings multiply.

And I’m talking stream of consciousness gratitude. From the big to the small picture. Because when I deeply consider the small things in life, and embody gratitude…the “dark side” has less of a hold. The more we focus on the positive, the more we attract positivity.

Would you like to join me?

“The first aspect of prayer is giving thanks to God for all the numberless blessings that are bestowed upon us at every moment of the day and night, and of which we are mostly unconscious.”  Inayat Khan

Feeling grateful is how I want to live. It’s the foundation of a healthy prayer life, a life that is centered on The One.  Gratitude gets us right sized but it also opens up our hearts.

So, if you are with me…let me know!  Send me an email at LEE [at] Addiction Blog [dot] org with the Subject Line: ISO Daily Gratitude Buddy. And let’s get started!  If you send me an email, I will respond to you within a day, or two, most.
